Just after v0.1 launch, and all content has to be reworked...
Teleport Up is destined to be a platformer - but not the same rehashing of similar gameplay with a slightly different story. I hoped that the teleport mechanic that replaces jumping would make this game stand out. However, games with slightly new mechanics need a tutorial first - a good one, that teaches the user to control their player well.
So far, v0.1 has a showcase room with text scattered around it in place of a tutorial. My Testers didn't see any problems with the TestBuild, but getting people to test it right in front of me showed me that this was completely the wrong approach. I'm going to be reworking the tutorial so that it teaches the player how to play, rather than expecting them to learn from some text that doesn't even render properly...
...which brings me to my next point. In one install, the text was rendered unreadable. A line drawn in the level, which functions perfectly fine in my install and test version, only showed when the character was on one side of it. This must be some sort of compatibility issue, so I'm going to be trialling bigger font sizes, and if they don't work, I'll scrap the font and use something simpler.
Enough talking for now. Check out v0.1 (such as it is) by downloading from the link below, and keep checking the game page for updates!
